Senior Backend Engineer (w/m/d)

Our client, a Vienna-based SaaS provider, is seeking an experienced backend developer who is passionate about modern technologies and thrives in designing scalable, robust systems. • Build and maintain robust SaaS backend services using Python, Django, Django REST Framework, and FastAPI, with exposure to Go, Java, or NestJS
• Apply sophisticated architectural patterns including Domain-Driven Design, modular monoliths, microservices, and hexagonal architecture
• Design and implement event-driven systems with asynchronous messaging (RabbitMQ or Kafka)
• Drive performance improvements through system refactoring, SQL optimization on PostgreSQL, and API efficiency enhancements
• Champion code quality by writing tested and documented code, conducting thorough code reviews, and fostering knowledge sharing across the team
• Embrace modern development tools, including AI-assisted coding and automation frameworks
• Partner cross-functionally with product, frontend, and QA teams in a Scrum/Kanban environment

• 10+ years of professional backend development experience with deep expertise in Python and Django
• Proven track record with additional backend languages or frameworks (Java, Go, Node.js/NestJS)
• Strong grasp of architectural principles: Domain-Driven Design, modular monoliths, microservices, and hexagonal architecture
• Hands-on production experience with RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Solid background in RESTful API design and integration; FastAPI experience is valued
• Strong PostgreSQL proficiency, from schema architecture to query optimization
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
• Excellent English communication; German language skills are advantageous
• Self-driven learner with genuine interest in exploring new technologies and methodologies
